As we close the chapter on 2025, it is incredible to look back at the transformation Gmelius has undergone. 2025 was so much more than just another year of feature updates. It was the year we fundamentally changed the relationship between you and your inbox by harnessing the true power of AI.

We moved from helping you manage email to helping you automate it with a level of precision and personalization never seen before.

2025 was the year Gmelius fully embraced intelligence. It was the year we introduced the world to the most intuitive AI email assistant available today, Meli.

From natural language automation to the birth of a true AI Executive Assistant, here is a deep dive into everything we accomplished in 2025, and a look at the groundbreaking road ahead for 2026.

2025: The Year We Put the "AI" in Email

Our focus this year was singular: giving you tools that don't just work for you, but work like you. We didn't want to just build a chatbot; we wanted to build an extension of your professional mind.

Q1: The "no-code" revolution and the launch of Backup Space

We started the year by removing the complexity from automation. With the launch of the AI Architect for Rules, we said goodbye to complex manual configurations. We empowered you to simply tell Gmelius what you needed in natural language: "If an email comes from a VIP, ping me on Slack." And watched as our AI built the workflow for you instantly.

Simultaneously, we introduced the AI Reply Assistant, a tool capable of drafting replies while you sleep. This was the first step toward the "always-on" inbox, ensuring your business kept moving even when you were offline.

We also launched the AI Sorting Assistant, a powerful labeling feature that not only sorts your inbox but lets you execute automated actions based on email labels – e.g., auto-archive all “Promotions” or auto-assign all “Invoices” to the finance department.

Backup Space, our Google Workspace backup solution, also went live this year!

We’re on a mission to democratize access to cloud data security solutions for businesses worldwide, regardless of their size. Backup Space provides reliable and resilient backup starting from $0, with Swiss-grady security, built-in anti-ransomware, 24X daily sync, and 5 minute setup.

Q2: A new identity and a digital makeover

In the second quarter, our external presence finally caught up to our internal technology. We undertook a full website revamp, unveiling a cutting-edge, user-focused digital home that better reflects our feature-centric approach.

This wasn't just a facelift; it was a statement. With a stunning new Dark Mode default, the new site signaled that Gmelius is designed for modern power users who demand sophisticated, sleek tools for their daily workflow.

Our makeover is more than skin-deep. We also undertook a massive localization overhaul for the in-app Gmelius experience, translating the UI to French, German, Spanish, Brazilian, and Portuguese. More languages are on the way!

Q3: Giving the AI a "brain"

As the year progressed, we tackled the biggest challenge in AI assistants today: context. An assistant is only as good as what it knows about you.

  • Implicit tone learning: We didn't want you to sound like a robot. We introduced deep learning capabilities where Meli analyzes your sent emails from the last two years to automatically learn about your operations and mimic your unique writing style.
  • Custom instructions  and prompts: We gave you the keys to the engine. You gained the ability to fine-tune the "brain" behind your replies, adding tone preferences and specific rules (e.g., “Always check my knowledge base first” or “Include my Calendly link for meeting requests”).
  • Gen AI search: We broke down data silos by allowing our AI agents to look up information via Google Search (without you having to switch apps). This enables them to draft answers with data not found in your immediate inbox.

Q4: The era of Meli and total inbox control

We finished the year with our most significant milestones yet, centering everything around our new AI identity: Meli.

1. Introducing Meli: Your executive assistant

We launched the public preview of Meli. Meli is not just a feature; she is your proactive executive assistant. Designed to summarize unread emails, manage calendars, flag what matters, and streamline your day, Meli represents the culmination of our 2025 efforts—and the foundation for our 2026 vision.

2. The launch of the Meli plan

To support this evolution, we officially introduced the Meli Plan in Q4. This new tier is dedicated specifically to unlocking the full potential of our AI features, ensuring that power users have the resources they need to automate their workflows at scale.

3. The new command center

Power requires control. We rolled out the Gmelius Workspace-centric UI, a centralized command center that gives you a single home for your AI systems, integrations, and automation rules. Coupled with our revamped SLA rules, auto-assignment capability, and Smart AI Sorting, you now have a bird's-eye view of your team's performance and the ability to route traffic with surgical precision.

4. OOO: AI with a sense of humor

We proved that AI doesn't have to be boring. In November, we premiered our first-ever micro-series, OOO (One Ordinary Office), completely generated by AI, with our very talented human producer at the wheel. It was a fun, human look at the workplace, reminding us that while our tools are serious, our culture is vibrant. Check out the trailer here:

2026: The Vision

For the last few years, our mission has been simple: to help you master your inbox. But as we look toward 2026, we realize that "managing email" is no longer enough. You don’t just need a tool that helps you manage faster; you need a partner that helps you do faster.

In 2026, we are taking our biggest leap yet. We are evolving Meli (“Gmelius AI”) from a smart email assistant into a fully autonomous AI Executive Assistant, a digital Chief of Staff capable of understanding your business, anticipating your needs, and executing complex workflows across your entire tech stack.

Here is what’s coming to Gmelius in 2026.

Q1 2026: A new home and a proactive mind

We are kicking off the year by redefining how you interact with Gmelius. It starts with a completely reimagined Web App (app.gmelius.com). Expect a cleaner, faster interface designed for clarity and speed, ensuring your Time-to-Value (TTV) is close to instantaneous.

But the real star is the New Meli:

  • Proactive meeting scheduling: Meli won't just send a link; she will actively scan your calendar, understand your preferences, and negotiate times for you.
  • Expanded brain: Meli will no longer be limited to your inbox and website. She will learn from your Google Meet notes, PDFs, and other sources of data to provide context-aware drafts, briefs on clients and projects before you even ask.
  • Retroactive logic: We are introducing a powerful new engine that cleans up the past as well as the present, helping you reach Inbox Zero by intelligently archiving and sorting historical clutter based on your current habits.
Also coming in Q1: A faster, smarter AI Dispatcher v2 for shared inboxes to route your team's traffic with unprecedented accuracy.

Q2 2026: The agentic shift

In the second quarter, Meli goes from "Assistant" to "Operator." We are introducing specialized agents that handle specific business functions so you don’t have to.

  • The AI Accounting Assistant: Meli will automatically identify invoices in your inbox, extract the data, and update your accounting software directly. No more manual data entry.
  • Implicit learning: You shouldn't have to write a rulebook for your assistant. Meli will start learning implicitly from your actions, e.g., by observing which emails you skip, which clients you prioritize, and adjusting her behavior to match your style automatically.
  • Conversational everywhere: We’re launching a voice-based, conversational Meli. You’ll be able to talk to Meli like a human colleague, whether you are at your desk or on the go. Think of Meli like your very own “Jarvis”.

Q3 2026: Breaking down walls

For years, we’ve been the secret weapon for Google Workspace users. In Q3, we are tearing down the garden walls. Starting with Meli, we plan to release Gmelius integrations for email clients outside of the Google ecosystem by Q3-Q4 2026. We can’t wait to see you on your favorite platforms!

Q4 2026: The open ecosystem

We believe your assistant should work with your unique tools. That’s why we are opening the doors with the Meli public API. In Q4, we will extend our public API allowing developers and teams to plug Meli into any app in their stack. Whether it’s a custom CRM or a niche project management tool, Meli will be able to connect, read, and act.

The Road Ahead

This roadmap is a genuine promise to give you the one thing you can’t buy: Time.

By the end of 2026, Meli will become the proactive partner that handles the busy work, so you can focus (even more) on what matters in your life.

Thank you for building this future with us.

Join us on this journey.
